Message from EABC President

The European Association for Business and Commerce (EABC) proudly presents the new design for EABC website which is more improved and user friendly version. Since its successful launch in 2012, the EABC website has served as a communication tool on trade and investment, supporting the competitiveness of the Thai economy information.  However, now it’s time to improvement works on our website to better reflect the increasingly varied types of events and activities.

We have aimed to make it quicker and easier to find all relevant information relating to one topic: downloads, key recommendations, policy briefing papers and other relevant publications.

Nowadays, Thailand has gone through a challenging phase in its development since 2013, both politically and economically. This included a new government with a new policy direction, a pause in EU-Thailand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, as well as the upcoming full realization of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by the end of 2015. This website contains both new and ongoing issues reflected by the European business community in Thailand, all of which share the goal of promoting the country as a more attractive trade partner and investment destination. It also comprises policy recommendations for better trade and investment facilitation, as well as doing business in Thailand, which will increase the economy’s competitiveness.

As an enhancement to our EABC Advocacy Groups, the Rail and Road Infrastructure working group was established last year, in addition to our nine existing working groups: Automotive, Cross Sectoral Issues, Energy and Energy Efficiency, Food and Beverages, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Insurance, and Transport and Logistics.

On behalf of the EABC, I would like to express my appreciation to our company members of the EABC Working Groups and everyone who was involved in useful policy dialogues that enabled the continued development and publishing of this EABC website. I would also like to pass my deepest gratitude to the European Delegation to Thailand who has always been very supportive of our operations and activities. My thanks also for the dedication and effort shown by everyone related to the EABC in support of our important publication.

I believe that this new website will be beneficial to investors as well as everyone in providing business strategies and a road map for Thailand to strengthen its competitiveness and attractiveness in the regional and global economy.

Yours sincerely,

Rolf-Dieter Daniel
President, EABC
