Rail and Road Infrastructure
Strategically located in Southeast Asia, Thailand has long played the role of a regional transport, trade and investment, as well as tourism hub. In light of the full implementation of AEC in 2015, transportation of cargo and passengers across the country is anticipated to increase substantially. To prepare the country for such change and enhance its competitiveness, several public transportation projects have been under consideration for budget allocation. Many of these projects are related to the upgrade or expansion of the rail network, most of which is currently in poor condition.
