What is EABC Helpdesk on Technical Standard goal?

EABC Helpdesk on Technical Standard aims to facilitate and provide:

  • First-level advisory services and relevant materials with legal background on Thailand mandatory and voluntary standard in support of EU SMEs;
  • A first instance contact point for enquiry in respect of new/changes of Thai regulation in respect of Standard, TBT1 /SPSnotifications, registration & accreditation, labelling and conformity assessment;
  • Basic support for initial contacts with local law enforcement agencies in Thailand;
  • News alert on latest standard regulatory and policy developments in Thailand;
  • Access to selected Technical Standard cases affecting EU SMES in Thailand.

1 TBT Agreement is the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, successor to the Standards Code. The TBT Agreement is part of the WTO package signed by all WTO Members. 2 SPS stands for Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures deriving from the WTO’s Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures or SPS Agreement. The SPS Agreement entered into force with the establishment of the World Trade Organization on 1 January 1995. It concerns the application of food safety and animal and plant health regulations.
